Marketing

One of the priorities of the Ministry of Agriculture is to guarantee farmers domestic and foreign markets to enable them to sell their produce. In implementing that, the Agency continues to increase the scope of grain markets by buying more crops from farmers in the country and looking for local and foreign markets.

Domestic markets

In carrying out the role of buying grain, the Agency buys grain from farmers every year, thus becoming a market that is largely relied on by farmers in the country to sell their produce. The agency has been working closely with farmers through groups, cooperatives and other stakeholders. In addition to providing part of the food reserve to serve emergency needs, a large part of the reserve is marketed and sold to various stakeholders including the private sector that includes millers and other traders, various institutions and schools. These sales enable the agency to get funds to buy more grain from farmers in the country.

Foreign markets

In order to achieve the goal of increasing the scope of markets, the Agency has been making efforts to find various foreign markets in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation. The Agency has continued to receive requests and export grain depending on the availability of markets and sufficient food reserves stored in warehouses.
