Roles and Functions


The main role of the Agency is to procure, reserve and release food stocks and respond to food shortages in the country. Thus, the Agency has been established to carry out four major functions. These are: -

i. Maintaining a national optimal level of food reserve for the country;

ii. Procuring, reserving and releasing food stocks to address disasters;

iii. Recycling and Marketing of food commodities for price stabilization and revenue generation; and

iv. Marketing of services to generate revenue.;
